Hi, I'm *squid*

About Me

( PSSS: Subscribe to my blog via email or RSS feed )

My name is Tommaso. I live in Florence, but I was born in Grosseto.

The Beginning

My journey into computing started early: when I was ten years old, my parents gave me my first computer, an IBM PS/2 with a glorious 486DX. That was the beginning of everything.

I still remember playing Gorilla with my dad—that little QBasic game that felt like pure magic to me. That was the moment my passion for computers truly began.

The Curious Mind

I have always been the kind of person who needs to understand how things work: taking them apart, studying them, rebuilding them, and finding solutions. This curiosity has guided me throughout my entire path in the world of technology—a long and intense journey filled with many different experiences.

The Professional Journey

I never stayed too long in the same place. I worked in many companies: some amazing, some less so, some that left a mark on me and others I was happy to leave behind.

About ten years ago, I decided to change course completely. I left my full-time job, opened my VAT position, and founded my own company.

I still remember my first "real" contract: a client in Lugo di Mugello, about two hours from Florence, where I traveled three times a week for very little pay. But it was pure experience, and it helped shape who I became.

A few years later, together with my close friend and best man Marco, and two other partners, we founded a company called isendu. It was an incredible adventure—a real roller coaster full of highs and lows—which eventually led to an exit in June 2024. A major milestone.

Today I work as a CTO, and I finally feel that I have found the right balance: a role that challenges me, excites me, and allows me to contribute real value.

Personal Life

In my personal life, I am married to Sara, whom I affectionately call "Lilly". The name became so meaningful to me that I even used it for a graphics engine I am developing in my spare time.

We share our home with two cats:

Our constant companions.

Passions & Interests

Outside of work, I am passionate about:

These interests are as much a part of me as the code I write.
